Though it is widely known that lightning never strikes twice, it has sizzled several times to create the Lightning Wall Tile. Made of chamcha wood, the tile has markings that are created when an electrode is applied to its surface and the fire follows natural markings in the tree’s DNA. Each of these pieces of art are unique because every specimen of wood has its own veining that invites the fire to follow it along. Making a contemporary wall tile with this level of specificity exemplifies the Phillips Collection ethos of modern organic.
